Love Thy Spa!

Hope you are taking good measures in the COVID times. Today I would like to write about body spa.

Spa is great way to rejuvenate and relax your mind and body. You can get the best of options in body spa. Many luxury hotels provide variety of options in local and exotic body spa. You may search and choose the one suitable to you. Spa is a great way to de-stress and relieves pain in joints and muscles. Hot Stone Massage, Swedish Massage, Deep Muscle Massage and Muscle Reviver are all fantastic at massaging out those nuisance aches and pains. Many body spa treatments can actually help with anti-ageing too. If you struggle with sleep, one of the many benefits of a spa trip is that many treatments can help you to catch more of those valuable Z’s. Hot spa treatments open up the skin’s pores, help the body to ward off toxins, and also encourage the body to burn calories. Additionally, deep tissue massages can help the body to break down fatty deposits through the pressure and friction exerted on the skin.

Another fantastic benefit of a body massage, particularly when having them frequently, is that they regulate your blood pressure and also improve your blood circulation. This has many advantageous effects to your health, including support with helping the body to fight off illnesses.

Among the many benefits of spa treatments is the biological effect it has on your body, particularly in regards to your happiness levels. Body massages at the spa centres are known to release serotonin, which is the hormone associated with happiness, and thus helps to improve your mood once your massage has finished! If you have problem skin or your face is feeling particularly dry, a facial can help to thoroughly clean and hydrate the skin by giving it the nourishment it needs to look bright and glowy. I wrote a previous article on skin acne. A quality spa not only rejuvenates but also hydrates and removes toxins from your skin promoting acne and pimple free skin.

Hair spa too is a trending and a great treatment. Hair spa not only relaxes your mind but also nourishes your roots and scalp. Almost all salons provide the services of hair spa and hair treatments. Hair spa and massage strengthen the roots and hydrates the skin. It improves blood circulation to the scalp thereby increasing your concentration and quality of your hair.

It’s clear from above mentioned points that spa treatments extend far beyond the massage table. This pandemic has been a stressful time for all, it has never been a best time to go for a body spa and message. There are lot of centres providing great offers on body and hair spa and massages. I see lots of people are aware and are encouraged to go for spa and massages. Hence almost all local spa and salons offer massage and spa bringing in untrained staff to combat demand. It’s the user who has to be aware about which treatments are best for them. I would advice to keep a reality check before choosing the suitable spa treatment. Below are few quick reality check I would like to share with you:

Myth and Reality about Spa and Treatments

Detoxification – All of body’s detoxification happens in Liver and no matter how much any beautician might claim but in the concentrations available to spas, it is not really possible for a compound to get to your liver to ‘cleanse’ it. I think that statement belongs more to voodoo than to reality. It is safe to assume that anything being applied in a spa is unlikely to penetrate far enough to enter the circulation and hence reach the liver, because if they were applying things that entered the circulation, they would be considered to be drugs and that would have to be regulated by the FDA or other regulatory bodies. 😉

Pigmentation – Whenever you have darker pigmentation, and the facialist squeezes out whatever is there — pimples and the like, they can do a lot more harm than good, in the sense that you can end up with hyperpigmentation which can take months to go away. And there is no benefit for people with normal skin — which is the greater part of the population.

Stress Relief – All the comments made by your beautician like they said major health benefits of regular facials: regulation of the immune system, detoxification, reduction in fluid buildup, stimulation of lymphatic drainage, exfoliation, and stress relief are only partly right. Relaxation modulates the immune system, but a facial is not going to have a direct effect on immune cells. In fact facials can cause inflammation and then edema, and they’re saying that a facial causes less fluid in the skin. If you have less fluid in your skin, you look dry.

And I don’t actually understand what is meant by ‘reduction in fluid buildup’ as pertains to the skin unless they mean edema from heart failure — but your kidneys do that for you, not your skin.
And when do you even have lymphatic drainage problems? If you do, you’re certainly not going to get a facial to solve them. A normal person does not have lymphatic problems on their face.

So dear users, love thy Spa😎
